Announcements of OPEN projects and calls

  • EPICURE - We provide support for the transfer and optimization of applications (Level 2 and Level 3 support) to users of EuroHPC JU supercomputer clusters. Submit your project at access.eurohpc-ju.europa.eu and get free support for your code. In the first half of 2026, we supported five HPC projects, mainly focusing on software installation and troubleshooting. We also promoted EPICURE through a webinar for Slovenian users and presentations at ASHPC 2026 in Vienna.

  • SLAIF - Slovenian AI Factory is a EuroHPC-cofunded initiative that aims to establish a national AI ecosystem by combining a next-generation AI-optimized supercomputer with advanced AI services, expertise, training, and support for research, industry, and the public sector. The project brings together leading Slovenian universities, research institutions, and technology partners to accelerate AI adoption, strengthen digital sovereignty, and support innovation across science, healthcare, industry, energy, and public administration.

  • EuroHPC Federation Platform (EFP) - The project aims to develop a unified platform that provides users with a single access point to current EuroHPC supercomputing resources, and in the future, to EuroHPC AI Factories and quantum computers. This one-stop-shop approach will enhance accessibility and drive broader adoption of EuroHPC systems across Europe.

  • GenSEMICON - The project ainms to develops a European framework for Generative AI and HPC, focusing on energy-efficient models, quantum-secure communication, and interoperability across edge, cloud, and HPC, while ensuring digital sovereignty, AI Act compliance, and sustainability.

  • EU-LAC Supercomputing Network for AI - Is a project of the Team Europe EU-LAC Digital Alliance initiative that aims to strengthen collaboration between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in the fields of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Coordinated by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and supported by leading European HPC institutions, including IZUM from Slovenia, the project seeks to establish a foundation for a future federation of HPC resources across the LAC region and ensure interoperability with the European HPC ecosystem. The initiative promotes digital transformation through policy dialogue, skills development, joint AI and HPC use cases, and increased utilization of the BELLA connectivity infrastructure, with a particular focus on seven target countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Uruguay.

  • EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) - is a European initiative aimed at creating a federated environment that connects research data, repositories, digital services, and computing resources from countries, research organizations, and research infrastructures. Slovenia is contributing to EOSC through the establishment of a national EOSC Node, designed to integrate existing national and institutional services into the European federation. Co-developed by ARNES and IZUM as key national e-infrastructure providers, the Slovenian node will provide access to repositories, data and computing resources, federated authentication, research environments, and user support. Its goal is to connect existing national capabilities into an interoperable and sustainable part of the broader European EOSC ecosystem.

CLOSED projects and calls

  • EU Master4HPC - Was a EuroHPC-funded European Master's programme that provided advanced education and hands-on training in High Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence, and Data Analytics. The project aimed to define a roadmap and support the implementation of an updated European HPC Master's curriculum across participating universities, bringing together leading universities, supercomputing centres, and industry partners throughout Europe. As a result, a collaborative educational framework was established to prepare highly skilled HPC professionals for Europe's digital future. The project has now been successfully completed, and its main objectives and planned outcomes were achieved.

  • Inno4scale - The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking has launched a new research project the Inno4scale, a European initiative, which was started to support the development of innovative algorithms for exascale supercomputers, so their efficient use can be fully exploited.

  • SMASH Open Call 3 - 2024 - The European training programme SMASH is looking for post-doctoral candidates with ambitious research projects (CLOSED at 15th of July).

  • InterTwin – co-designs and implements the prototype of an interdisciplinary Digital Twin Engine (DTE) for modelling and simulation to integrate application-specific Digital Twins (DTs).
